Job Description

This position will support operations/processing, outreach, and recruitment effort within the Latino Programs and Services.

Some weekend hours may be required but will not exceed the total allotted flexible ten (10) hours weekly work schedule. The official supervisor of the Work Student Assistant will be Diane Maldonado, Latino Programs and Services Coordinator.

Student workers are expected to perform job assignments in a manner that is consistent with Latino Programs and Services Mission and Goals. Appropriate personal conduct, reliable attendance, and positive work attitudes are important aspects of satisfactory job performance.

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

• Perform clerical duties.
• Create and maintain the home page and database for the office.
• Provide academic referrals.
• Provide follow-up contact for students.
• Help implement cultural/social programming for students.
• Assist with the planning and execution of activities: transitions, campus visits, and college fairs.
• Participate in Latino Programs and Services retention activities.
• Other duties & responsibilities as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:

• Written and verbal fluency in Spanish.
• Computer proficiency.
• Public speaking.
• Multiple task management ability.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Good instructional skills.
• Ability to obtain NKU Cargo Van driver’s license.

Supervisors’ Expectations:

• Assist with the planning and execution of office programming, student and community service efforts.
• Ability to complete tasks in a timely fashion without major supervision.
• Initiative to work independently as well as be a team player.

Primary Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:
- greeting & assisting visitors

- answering department phones

- printing; collating & stapling documents

- delivery of documents & items to nearly all NKU campus buildings

- filing of documents

- assisting with office supplies as related to course preparation

- occasional lifting of computer paper boxes.

Qualifications

Dependable & some flexibility in schedule. Good communication and organization skills.
Must be able to use discretion and maintain confidentiality with student and faculty affairs.

Minimum Education High School Diploma
Pay Rate $7.25/hour
