Purpose of Position

The Department of Computer Science (http://informatics.nku.edu/csc/) invites applications for a renewable lecturer position starting in August 2017.

Primary Responsibilities

The department seeks candidates who can primarily contribute to introductory coursework in the department’s three undergraduate programs: Computer Science, Computer Information Technology and Data Science. In particular, the department desires a candidate who can teach Information Technology Fundamentals, Elementary Programming, Object-oriented Programming I and Object-oriented Programming II.

The selected candidate will also be expected to serve as course coordinator for Information Technology Fundamentals including maintaining the computer components needed for the first year students to assemble computers. Candidates who can also contribute to other coursework such as introductory computer networks, windows administration, web development, data structures or advanced undergraduate courses will receive higher consideration.

The position’s salary and benefits are competitive.

The position requires a 4-4 teaching load. However, serving as course coordinator can bring with it a one semester reassignment (a 3-4 load).

Aside from teaching and course coordinator duties, service toward the department and/or college is expected in this position.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a MS (or higher) degree in computer science or computer information technology or a closely related field.
