Job Description

Assist lead teachers in toddler classroom (Ages 1-2) or preschool classroom (Ages 2-5) ~ See primary responsibilities below.
Prepare breakfast and afternoon snack for children daily. Maintain Kitchen and food stores.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Will be responsible for supervising children inside the classroom as well as on the playground under the direction of the teaching staff
  • Will be responsible for facilitating play and interactions between children
  • Will follow established routines for children in regard to diapering, toileting, eating, dressing, tooth brushing, sleeping, and general hygiene.
  • Will support an environment to assist children in developing respect for self and others, self-control, and self-direction through dramatic play, large/small group activities, and modeling under the direction of the teaching staff.
  • Will support children’s transition between activities.
  • Will assist in implementing age appropriate activities in the classroom under the direction of the teaching staff.
  • Must be a good role model, show patience, show initiative, and be personable with parents and co-workers.
  • Must be willing to do general housekeeping.
  • Must adhere to program policies/procedures, licensing. regulations and STARS quality initiatives.
  • Must be willing to work during breaks as the ECC follows the NKU calendar for days of operation.
  • Must participate in professional development as required by licensing and STARS to improve performance and to expand personal knowledge of child development.
  • Must attend monthly staff/team meetings on Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 unless time conflicts with scheduled class.
Qualifications
  • Must be an undergraduate student attending six or more credit hours at NKU.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Workstudy funds (contact the financial aid office to verify)
  • preference will be given to early childhood majors (birth-5).
    Successful applicant must:
    *be able to respond to young children with an encouraging, nurturing, and cheerful attitude
    *be able to take direction and feedback on performance from professional staff
    *be able to relate and work with children and families of diverse backgrounds
    *have a positive criminal background check and physical examination, and a negative TB test
